Thrifting Tips 101: Wear Your Thrifting Uniform

Thursday, January 12, 2017

WEAR YOUR THRIFTING UNIFORM: If you are a die hard thrift shopper or a newbie, wearing a thrifting uniform is essential in your thrift shopping success! There are so many thrift shops that do not have dressing rooms and if they do have dressing rooms, there are usually people standing in line waiting to use it. Then they often have signs posted indicating a try-on limit. It is usually a small number like 3-4 pieces at a time. Who truly has that amount of items to try on? Especially at a thrift store!

So to avoid the hassle, of wasting thrifting time standing in a dressing room line or only be allotted a certain number of items to try on, you should make sure that you have on some type of thrifting uniform.

A thrifting uniform will allow you to try on clothes without having to get undressed. Ditching the drama of using a dressing room. Wear leggings (or a skirt, dress) a close fitting top and shoes that are easy to slip on and off. Plus wear a cross body bag to free up your hands for searching the racks.

Do you wear a thrifting uniform when you go thrift shopping? What does your thrifting uniform consist of?

  1. Well I never thought of that! I haven't been thrift store shopping in forever either. I used to go to a place that was so cheap I would just buy if it looked good on the hanger. As you can imagine my closet filled up quickly!

  7. I go thrifting a bit and thankfully one store near us has changing area, but most don't. I usually wear running pants, a tank (sometimes a t-shirt over) and yes a cross shoulder bag or backpack. Need your arms free to rummage!

  26. I've actually never thought about this, but it is such a smart idea. I've done more selling at Thrift Stores than buying and when I have bought items it is mostly accessories. But when I think about it, I probably avoided the clothes because of the limited dressing room space.

  29. That's such a great idea! I never really think about that before I go to a thrift store, but often when I am at one I am trying stuff on over my clothing because I don't want to waste time dealing with the dressing room.

  32. I love thrift shopping. I never thought of having a thrifting uniform. What a brilliant idea. Wearing a skirt is defiantly a great idea. I wear skirts often and I'm so glad that I do since I shop with my kids and my little one often opens up the curtain when I'm changing.

  35. That's such a great tip! I actually do the same while shopping at the department stores where the lines are just too long. I'll put leggings and a tshirt so it's easier to put on clothes without entering the fitting room!
