Hey Over 40 fitness fam!
Today’s workout was all about building strength and pushing my limits—both in power and endurance. I started the day with a 2-mile walk to get my body warmed up, followed by an intense HIIT class that left me dripping in sweat but feeling amazing!
Let’s break it down:
The Routine: Strength and Power in Motion
1. Morning Warm-Up Walk: 2 Miles
Before jumping into anything too intense, I took a 2-mile morning walk outdoors. Walking not only helps loosen up my muscles but also gets me mentally prepared for the workout ahead. Plus, it’s a great way to soak in some fresh air before hitting the gym!
2. Evening HIIT Class: 45-Minute Power Session
Once I was warmed up, it was time to get serious with a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) class. Here’s what we focused on today:
Circuit 1: Full-Body Burn
- Burpees (3 sets of 12 reps)
- Kettlebell Swings (3 sets of 15 reps)
- Jump Squats (3 sets of 12 reps)
Circuit 2: Upper Body Power
- Push-ups (3 sets of 10 reps)
- Dumbbell Shoulder Press (3 sets of 12 reps)
- Renegade Rows (3 sets of 10 reps)
Circuit 3: Core & Conditioning
- Mountain Climbers (3 sets of 30 seconds)
- Plank Hold (2 minutes total, 30 seconds per interval)
- Russian Twists (3 sets of 20 reps)
Cooldown: I ended with a few minutes of stretching, focusing on loosening my hips, shoulders, and hamstrings to stay injury-free. The entire HIIT class was super challenging but rewarding!
The Look: What I Wore
I believe in feeling both strong and stylish during my workouts. Here’s the breakdown of today’s gym fit:
Top: A lightweight, moisture-wicking top in blue. It’s my go-to for HIIT because it’s breathable and keeps me cool even when the workout heats up!
Bottoms: High-waisted compression leggings in a blue and neon trim. They provide the perfect amount of support during explosive movements like jump squats and burpees.
Shoes: My favorite pair of running shoes, with extra cushion for the 2-mile walk and stability for the HIIT session.
Final Thoughts
Today’s combo of a brisk walk and a killer HIIT class was the perfect mix of cardio, strength, and power. I feel energized, strong, and ready to tackle the rest of the day.
