Thrifted Trends Fall 2012: Oversized Coats

Coat- Madeline by Alorna (Back By Popular Demand Consignment)

I truly love Fall fashion. It is by far my favorite time to update my wardrobe, especially after I scored this vintage oversized coat. It was only $1 at the Back By Popular Demand Consignment Dollar Sale

Thrifting for coats is one of the best ways to save money and look stylish during winter. You can try out so many styles without a huge investment.

Always consider what you need most in a coat before purchasing, or else it will just sit in your closet. You should ask yourself the following questions: Will this be my everyday coat? Will I wear this coat for special occasions? Do I need a coat with a hood? Can I wear a chunky sweater under this coat?

This coat is definitely for special occasions, like a holiday party or haute fashion event. It is too memorable to wear often. Are you thrifting for a winter coat? What style are you hoping you can score?

Thrifted Trends Fall 2012: Skinny Jeans

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

Jacket- Sharon Anthony (Value Village Atlanta)/ Jeans- Gap (Back By Popular Demand Consignment)/ Shoes- Luichiny (Plush Boutique Atlanta) or Buy HEREBib Necklace- Just Jewels 4 U (Fashion Style Studio)

Skinny jeans are always on trend and here to stay...well at least in my lookbook! In dark blue denim or bright colors, they are must have piece when you plan your wardrobe for Fall. They are perfect for wearing with your riding boots. They are also so versatile and a great transition piece for any occasion. By simply changing your shoes and top, you create a whole new look.

You know that I am a huge advocate for thrifting. My entire outfit, with the exception of my shoes and accessories are thrifted pieces. The shoes I purchased during the spring Chic Boutique Tour from Plush Boutique in Atlanta. I think they are so fab, don't you agree? Well check out Plush Boutique for a pair! Not in Atlanta, you can also purchase them HERE.

The bib necklace I purchased from my jewelry partner, Just Jewels 4 U. You can find her statement pieces at my Fashion Style Studio in Buckhead or visit her online store HERE.

I wore this outfit during the Atlanta Consignment Stores shopping tours, where I was the lead stylist. It was such a great opportunity to provide my styling and shopping services to the group of ladies. Click HERE to see photos of our shopping adventures.

What type of skinny jeans are you adding to your Fall wardrobe? Do you think the skinny jean is here to stay?

Thrifted Trends Fall 2012: Patent Leather and Cashmere

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Sweater- Old Navy and Skirt- Forever 21 (Back By Popular Demand Consignment) Shoes- Nine West (Fashion Swap)
I love getting my wardrobe ready for Fall because it is my favorite fashion season of the year. Cozy sweaters, full length coats, riding boots and textured tights are on my must-have list! So I was so excited that I was able to score this outfit this past weekend at the Back by Popular Demand Consignment Dollar Sale. Yes this outfit was only $2 dollars. The shoes I scored at an in-home fashion swap I hosted for one of my clients. So they were FREE!

Leather is a must have trend this fall. Check out your local thrift or consignment stores for some budget friendly options. You may event score a haute vintage piece. And of course you can't go wrong with a classic staple like a cashmere sweater.

What trends top your list this season? Will you buy your trendy must-have pieces resale or retail?

How to Style a Maxi Skirt 4 Ways

Saturday, September 1, 2012

EBEW - Back To School
1 Maxi Skirt + 1 Cami + 1 Cardigan + 1 Belt= 4 Stylish Looks
Remember my first maxi skirt I thrifted from Goodwill? Well I've come a long way baby!! I found this one at B & R Thrift Store months ago and finally wore it for the first time to write this post. Now I am inspired to bring you a bi-weekly Saturday blog series titled: "How to Style a ___ in ___ Ways" to share creative ideas to wear one piece several ways. I love wearing maximizing and extending my wardrobe, so this will be a great challenge for me to test my creativity and styling abilities. I'm getting excited just thinking about it!!

Styled as a Maxi Skirt: Cami + Belt + Maxi Skirt
This is the classic way to style a maxi. You can add a boots and a blazer or cardigan to transition this look to fall.

Styled as an A-Line Dress: Cami + Maxi Skirt
Pull the maxi skirt right under your bust to create this look. It is perfect for a Sunday brunch with the girls. And an easy effortless style for the mommy-to-be too!

Styled as a Strapless Dress: Cardigan + Belt + Maxi Skirt
Pull the maxi skirt over your bust for a strapless flirty mini-dress. Cinch your waist with a belt and add a cardigan for classic feminine style.

Styled as a Cold-Shoulder Dress: Belt + Maxi Skirt
This look was inspired by Soo Soo Tasty when I saw her at our Blog Fab Fashionistas TweetUp a few weeks ago! I just knew I had to put my spin on it.

Hope you enjoyed these looks! You can check out my How to Style video HERE for a step-by-step guide of how you can re-create these looks. Which one is your favorite? Please share your style tips too, I am sure there are more ways to style a maxi!
