What I Wore: Grey Tall Boots + Sweater Dress

Monday, February 13, 2017

I enjoy wearing sweater dresses! The great thing about them is there are so many styles, designs, colors, prints and textures available. I consider them to be a must-have staple in my Fall fashion wardrobe. I have worn one HERE, HERE and HERE. They are cozy, easy to wear, easy to style and look stylish all the time. Plus you will stay very warm in chilly temperatures. I tend to use the same formula for Effortless Style: Sweater Dress + Opaque or Textured Tights+ Tall or Short Boots.
On those "I have nothing to wear days" or busy weekends when you are running errands – a sweater dress is one of the easiest things to wear.

Thrifting Tips 101: Buy The Things You Absolutely Love

Wednesday, February 8, 2017

BUY THE THINGS YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE. The true joy of thrift shopping is being able to buy things for a fraction of the retail price. If you shop at thrift, consignment and vintage stores you can save up to 80% off the retail price. That pair of $200 designer denim jeans you may see at your favorite department store, will cost around $7 at your local thrift store. So with that in mind, thrift shopping may ball out of control at the thrift store and buy items because we consider it a good deal. By the end of our thrifting trip, we would have purchased 10 pairs of jeans. That's only $70, but do you really need 10 pairs of jeans. I often tell newbie thrift shoppers to be very strategic when thrift shopping. That way they would avoid buying items just because it's a good deal. Before you make the decision to buy an item, you should ask yourself the following questions for each item you are considering:
  • At this moment, do I love the way this item looks on me?
  • Do I have something similar in my closet?
  • Will I wear this item within the next month or will this item fit my lifestyle?
  • If I saw this item at the retail store, would I buy it at regular price?
How do you decide what item you will purchase?

What I Wore: Vintage Floral Dress

Monday, February 6, 2017

Last weekend, I finally had the chance to wear my vintage floral dress and pill box hat. I wore it to an event called Tea Party Socials hosted by my thrift sister Rhonda Thompson. Would you believe me if I told you that his vintage floral dress was only $1? I bought it last October from Helping Hands Thrift Store  in Buford, GA. Helping Hands Thrift Store is not a big chain thrift store. It is a smaller charity thrift store. The items they get in through donations are sold at rock bottom prices. I saw this beauty on the rack. I knew I had a tea party to attend, so I purchased it.

Thrifting Tips 101: Shop the Label

Wednesday, February 1, 2017

SHOP THE LABEL. Whether shopping for vintage pieces or high end designer you should always shop the label. Do not use the label solely to determine the size. It tells you much more about the item. Labels tell a story! The label on the inside of the garment will answer the following four questions:
