Events: Oka-B Fall Preview Media Brunch

Wednesday, August 26, 2015

Today I attended the media brunch for Oka-B shoes to preview their fall collection which featured their latest addition-- the Emery Wedge. It is described as the “transitional shoe,” perfect for summer to Fall. I was equally excited to learn that Oka-B is a local shoe manufacturer based here in Atlanta, Georgia. It is always a plus to know about products made here in the USA. Oka-B shoes are the adult version of the jelly flats we loved as kids, But these shoes are designed with an ergonomic foot bed enhanced with massage beads to pamper your feet. They are made from Microplast technology, which provides a lightweight, flexible shoe that remains comfortable and durable. I received the Emery wedge is Sapphire. They are available in several colors. You can visit their website HERE to view the full gallery. Below is a photo recap of the event.

Thrifted Trends: Polka Dot Dress

Tuesday, August 25, 2015

Polka dots are one of my most favorite prints. It is a timeless classic print perfect for any season and any occasion. It's very feminine and never goes our of style. So that makes polka dot prints a must-have staple that every woman should own. I am always drawn to this print whenever I am thrifting. I have polka dot blazers, tops and dresses. So I really did not need another polka dot piece. But this was 1/2 price at Goodwill Grasslands location, so I paid $3. It retails for about $24. This is why I love thrifting! Retail looks from resale pieces.

Thrift Wish List: Christian Louboutin So Kate

Friday, August 21, 2015

I heart designer shoes and accessories. So my thrift wish list includes a pair of So Kate Christian Louboutin shoes. These shoes combine a classic look with a touch of sexy! They are a great transition piece too, because you can wear them for business, social or a casual event. That skinny delicate heel is just beautiful too. I stalk my favorite designer consignment store Alexis Suitcase everyday hoping that a size 40.5 will appear in the store just for me. They are usually priced about 60% off the retail price. Which is a steal for such a quality, luxury and timeless shoe. Also, I calculate the cost per wear of the shoes because the true price of an item is determined by the number of time you will wear it. The formula is very simple math: Divide how much an item costs by the number of times you will wear it. So I plan to wear it at least 2x per month. So at the end of a year, my "cost per wear" is $20. Now that's a bargain! Until I am able to score my dream shoes, I will continue to look for style inspiration from my favorite bloggers.

They say the more the merrier and that is so true! We spent the first half of the event chatting, networking and taking pictures. Then it was showtime! Thrift Wish List: Culottes

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

Many of my friends do not understand my love for culottes and my dislike for capris. They consider them the same thing, but I try to convince them that they are not. Capris resemble high water pants and depending how it is styled, look very frumpy and dated. Culottes look like a skirt, but are actually wide leg cropped pants. Just that little quirkiness is what makes me adore them so much, plus it's a great conversation starter. For my clients who just love capris, I always suggest they try a pair of culottes. In my opinion, they are a stylish, fashionable alternative to capris. Here are some of my ways to style culottes.

Thrifted Trends: Sabine Scarf Print Maxi Dress

Thursday, August 6, 2015

Who can resist a maxi dress? Especially one that is pleated and has a gorgeous print! I knew this dress was a winner, as soon as I spotted it on the racks at the Goodwill Grasslands location in Alpharetta. I researched the Sabine brand and this dress retails for $78. My price only $7.  When thrifting price is of course a factor, but the deciding factor for me is the brand and how to maximize my wardrobe with the pieces I select. It really helps to determine if the item is worth coming home with me. This dress is perfect for this season and will be a great transition piece for Fall. I can pair it with a denim jacket or cropped leather jacket too.  This dress certainly passed the test.

Thrift Style We Crave: Denim Jeans

Monday, August 3, 2015

Denim jeans are often one of the most challenging fashion pieces to find while thrifting. The rows and rows of jeans we encounter when walking into a thrift store is very overwhelming. One of the most important tips when thrifting for jeans is to devote time solely focused on finding the perfect pair. When thrifting for jeans, you should ONLY thrift for jeans. Do not get distracted and thrift for anything else. It may take 2 hours or two weeks to find that perfect pair, but I promise it will be worth the time and patience. Click HERE to review my other tips for thrifting jeans. Here are a few looks from our Divas Who Thrift. I hope they provide style inspiration when you are thrifting for one of the most important pieces you can own.
