I must admit that this is one of my favorite pussy bow blouses. The print and style makes it an easy piece to style. This is one of the most important strategies that I use when deciding to make a purchase. I always ask myself a few questions, "Will this piece be worn for several seasons?" "Can I wear this piece immediately?" and "Do I love this piece or am I buying it because of the price?" Since thrift store pricing is so inexpensive, you have to be very strategic when shopping or else you can wind up buying items just for the fun of it. This results in a closet filled with fashion you may not even wear. I style my blouse with a teal green sailor skirt, black opaque leggings and black booties.
While browsing the racks at the Goodwill Grasslands location, I laid my hands of this dress. I was drawn to the color and it's simple classic style. The material felt very luxurious too! Immediately I searched for the tag and as I expected it was a designer brand-- Diane Von Furstenburg. I googled the brand name and a brief description of the dress (diane von furstenburg button down back dress) and searched the images. This dress retails for over $300. The Goodwill price under $7. I started doing cartwheels when I realized that Princess Kate owns this style of dress too and that too influenced my decision to add this piece to my wardrobe. I can't wait to style it.
I had some fun today mixing prints. If you have been a bit nervous to try mixing prints, this combination is a very safe one to try. Start with a black and white polka dot blouse. Then pair it with a black and white print bottom. Choose a bottom with a nice bold print similar to my Bob Mackie mini skirt. (Worn HERE) I completed my look with black leggings and tall boots. Remember to keep the rest of the look simple!
