BDIB: This Woman's Worth

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Shirt-Ralph Lauren/ Blazer-American Eagle Outfitters/ Tie-Thrifted/ Skirt-Petite Sophisticates/ Shoes-Etienne Aigner

As I read the comments when Bloggers Do It Better first introduced this assignment/challenge, I was a bit surprised by the hesitation of a few participants. Sure, most jumped at the opportunity to rummage a man's closet, be creative, and attempt to mix masculine attire with feminine touches. However, some questioned their ability to successfully achieve the look.

While I understand that women don't wear bow ties and neckties regularly, let's not be so worried about losing our femininity based on clothing. The beauty of being a woman is that we hold the ability to be powerful while still exuding a delicate appeal. We possess an inner strength that catapults us through seemingly impossible hardships. We create, nurture, and sustain life. We support the needs of all around us before tending to our own.
It is because I understand a woman's worth that I embraced wearing this look. I sealed the look with the best accessory, a confident smile and a sure sense of self.

  7. well...when I first saw the theme I was afraid that my look would be "serious" and when I started trying on clothes, it felt really blunt! that's why I went for the shorts...
I like the way you styled a pleaded skirt with the shirt+tie...and that skirt has such a nice color too!!Love it!

  14. Love the color combination, the red and the yellow=awesome. Plus I like that you chose a skirt for this challenge given the masculine pieces a good dose of feminine influence.

  15. Love your perspective! I wasn't necessarily worried about the masculinity of the tie, but I was apprehensive about this one primarily because my style is NOT preppy. Still, I had fun with it.

    Love your skirt!!!

Hey just commented on your look. Yeah, the plaid shirt was a combo of navy, yellow, red, and green; therefore, the red tie and yellow skirt worked well. Thanks for visiting our site.

But your words (especially in conjunction with the picture) even touched me more: They're full of wisdom and I will cherish them and keep them in mind as I will grow older. You're a great role model, for everyone but especially for girls my age.
