Thrift Haul Thursday: Park Avenue Thrift Outlet Woodstock

Thursday, January 30, 2014

My family from New Orleans came to Atlanta this past weekend to visit. Of course, I had to take them thrifting. Since I had never been to the Park Ave Thrift Outlet Woodstock location, I thought it would make for a great family thrifting adventure. A family that thrifts together stays together.
My cousin Shari, My aunt Mary Louisa, My mom Mary Ann and me
We went to the location in Woodstock. On Sunday's everything is $1.50 and then it decreases 25cents each day until the prices starts at $2.00 on Friday. Below are the pictures of the pieces I scored:
Vintage Black and White Color Block Pumps by Proxy

Vintage Floral Print Dress: No hanger appeal but on my body, it is perfection. With a plunging neckline, midi length and pockets, it is love at first sight.
Vintage Jumpsuit Studded with pearls: Again no hanger appeal but when I tried it on, I fell in love again.
Maxi Flute Skirt: The stripes caught my eye and of course that silhouette is winner.
High Waist Light Washed Denim by Gitano: I admit this one was a nostalgic purchase but I think I can figure out a way to wear it with a modern twist.
Polka Dot Skinny Jeans by Gap: This is great trendy piece to add to my jeans collection.
Cobalt Blue Skinny Jeans by Gap: Another great trendy piece to add to my jeans collection.
Denim Jeans by New York and Company: I loved the front pockets and it is the perfect length.
Black and White Strapless Dress by The Limited: You can never wrong with a strapless dress and it has pockets too!
Vintage Floral 2-piece set: I loved this 2-piece floral print set. The bottoms are actually culottes with pockets. I can't wait to wear this look either as a set or separately.
Vintage Black Special Occasion Top: You know I had to get this one, exaggerated puffy sleeves and bows with sparkly accents. It screamed my name.
The Little Black Dress by bebe: This will be my motivation dress, until it fits like a glove, it will remain in my closet. LOL

Which piece is your favorite? Have you shopped the Park Ave Thrift Outlet?

Thrift Haul Thursday: Park Avenue Thrift Store Duluth

Thursday, January 23, 2014

I stop at the thrift store at least 2-3 times a week to fulfill my thrift wish list and also to see what I can add to my closet (or yours). When deciding if I will purchase an item, I always think about how I will incorporate it with my current pieces. If I can't make the item into an outfit immediately or I don't know how I would style it, I will not purchase it. This is a great way for me to keep my closet filled with pieces that I love.
So this Thrift Haul Thursday's finds were scored from Park Ave Thrift in Duluth, GA. I scored two blazers and an Atlanta Falcons Jersey. Below are the pictures along with my plan for styling:
Green Blazer: I plan do a colorblock look with the blazer. I am thinking about pairing it with cobalt blue and radiant orchid or cobalt blue and yellow.

Plaid Blazer: This blazer is perfect for styling with dark denim jeans. Plus it will be great for doing a mixed prints look, either with navy and white polka dots or a floral navy print.

Atlanta Falcons Jersey: Ok so here is the story about this purchase. I am one of 2 die hard Saints fan in my office. So to show how much bleed black and gold, my co-worker and I agreed to the do the following when the rival teams play:
  • If the Falcons win a game, I have to wear Falcons colors or a jersey.
  • If the Saints win a game he wears Saints colors or jersey.
So I am getting ready for the upcoming football season, just in case the Falcons win a game. I have my favorite former Falcons Jersey on hand. LOL
What have you thrifted lately? Which one of my pieces are your favorite?

Thrifted Trends: Polka Dot Tunic::Faux Leather Leggings::Leather Fringe Booties

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

Booties- Steve Madden & Leggings- Mimi Chica(Goodwill Grasslands)/Tunic- Fabrik (Free Fabrik)/Handbag- Louis Vuitton Epi Bucket Drawstring (Goodwill Johns Creek)
I scored this top (or dress) from free Fabrik during their grand opening in November. I loved the polka dots and the black bow. It can be worn both was, but Timm Gunn says if you have to ask if a clothing item is a dress or a top, then it's a top! So, I added my faux leather leggings to be on the safe side. LOL

Have you every faced this dilemma, wondering if a dress was a top, or vice versa? How did you end up wearing the item: as a dress or a top?

Stylish Review: Thrift Threads Online Thrift Store

Sunday, January 12, 2014

You all know that I love thrifting. This year I even joined Looking Fly on A Dime's Thrifty Threads 365 Challenge, where I pledged to only shop thrift stores and keep my budget at $50 per month. The motto is No New Clothes. So it was perfect timing that I was introduced to Thrift Threads, an online thrift store. According to their website, they get the left over inventory from several thrift stores and after carefully inspecting each item, only the best pieces are measured, photographed and then added to the online store.

The website is very straight forward and without all the bells and whistles of other online stores that I am accustomed too. But it is very organized to include search by type of clothing type, brand name, size and color. The inventory may seem a bit overwhelming for a thrifting newbie but I was able to find these 3 dresses, but I can only get one. So I need your help to pick one!

They offer free shipping to all US Addresses! Plus, automatic discounts starting with orders over $15. If you are not happy with your purchase, you have 30 days to return your item for a full refund. So, be sure to check out Thrift Threads Online Store to see what you can score.

The designers of Angry Elephant 1969 sent me a selection of their t-shirts to review. After a long deliberation, I selected the Angry Elephant Classic because it fits like a baby tee. Just perfect for my body type. It is a very nice qualirty tshirt with a great logo design. You guys know I love sequins, so the red or (intensified pink) glittery elephant logo caught my attention too.

It an ongoing tragedy being faced by these majestic harmless elephants that are being driven to extinction over man's craving for ivory. Part of the proceeds from the sale of each garment goes directly to conservation organizations.
