Shecky's Girls Night Out Atlanta

Thursday, March 29, 2012

WHAT I WORE: Shirt Dress- GAP (Thrifted/Value Village Roswell)/ Shoes- Gianna Binni- (Dillards)/ Accessories- Borrowed from Mom/ Purse- LV Speedy (Gifted)/ Watch- Michael Kors (Macys)

I attended Shecky's on the first night of their 2-day Atlanta tour. The event was held at the Biltmore Ballrooms. I arrived a bit after 8pm so the early hustle and bustle crowd was gone. This meant it was easier to walk around, shop all the vendors and get drinks. Overall, it was just great to get out and about in Atlanta. I've been so busy lately with my styling business, that it was great to take a break, relax and treat myself!

My dear friend, Amavi and my cousin Anton, joined me for the evening.

Kesha Denise of Funky Flair Boutique. One of my favorite trendy boutiques. Haute trends without breaking the budget.
It was love at first sight when I meet this hot pink over-sized sheer blouse! I can't wait to style my Funky Flair purchase.

Kesha and two satisfied customers. Be sure to stop by her booth first to get the best goods.
Then I stopped by Atlanta's most stylish indie designer, Chakiva Felder of Spoiled Diva.

Her glam hand-made accessories are sure to spark up a conversation. Stop by her booth too before your favorites are gone!

Then I stopped by Chake Parris's booth. I loved the banner and display for her jewelry line Rare Finz. Her selection is impeccable and priced right!

Maybelline's beauty experts provided mini makeovers to guests, then they walked the runway and posed for pictures that they received immediately via SMS or email.

Sensational provided guests the opportunity to experience their latest product: Invincible Nail Polish. Its claim is that allows you to enjoy your flawless nail color for up to 2 WEEKS.

Here are few pics of happy shoppers.

Are you attending Shecky's in Atlanta or in you town? What vendors are you most excited to see?

My team and I have been very busy getting ready for my spring fashion swap events. This season, we will take SWAPNISTA to several cities, to include Houston, Shreveport, New Orleans and Little Rock. We are seeking vendors and swag bag sponsors for our event. Your referrals are greatly appreciated. Learn more about our fantastic exhibitor opportunity HERE.

The highlight of SWAPNISTA is the fashion swap but we always anticipate our bloggers fashion show and competition. We affectionately call it the "Style Wars" Challenge. One winner in each city will walk away with the "Coveted Clutch", filled with valuable prizes.
Dearroka Winfrey and her Pretty Girls Rock Dresses team, will help me kick-off the swap season here in Atlanta. SWAPNISTA Atlanta is scheduled for April 21, 2:00 pm at House of Adrene Boutique.

Then it's off to Houston where the Houston Area Fashion Bloggers will help me launch SWAPNISTA Houston on April 28th, 3:00 pm at Couture Blowout Boutique. Julia Smith of Buxom Chick is the on-site SWAPNISTA Houston Coordinator.

As the other cities are scheduled, I will keep you updated here on my blog and on my Facebook page. If you would like me to host SWAPNISTA in your city, please post a comment or send me an email HERE.

My Date with the Houston Fashion Bloggers

Thursday, March 15, 2012

LeRenda, Nikiage, MeCrystal, Lauren, Shasie and Julia.
Last week, I had a dinner date at Hearsay Lounge with several of the Houston Fashion Bloggers.  They were so sweet and showed my that good ole southern hospitality! This year I am taking my fashion swap event on a road trip and Houston is one of my stops. These ladies are a wealth of information and have already gone above and beyond to assist me in making Swapnista a success!!

Julia is the on-site coordinator for Swapnista Houston. We have been communicating for weeks on Facebook and Twitter, so it exciting to finally meet her in person.

I learned that Nikiage is the go to person for scoring ebay items at rock bottom prices and Crystal (who is also my soror) is jewelry designer...check out her collection of pearl necklaces HERE

LeRenda is a freelance makeup artist and Shasie is the founder of the Houston Fashion Bloggers group. As you can see, I was among a group of fashion bloggers who were triple threats too!

Later on during the week, my soror Crystal picked me up so we do a little shopping at Couture Blowout. There are two locations one at  2419 S Shepherd Drive, stocked with mid-level designer fashion and the other at1621 Westheimer Rd., stocked with very high end designers. I did some window shopping the day before, but needed to go back to take my time and really shop to my heart's content.

The owner (pictured on the left) Fatou Fall, has a great eye for style and fashion, and her store definitely reflects her taste.

Here is sneak peek of what Crystal and I brought home with us! I fell in love with this adorable pastel Tracey Reese was under $90. Below are a few pictures of the store.

So take my advice, if you love high-end labels, Couture Blowout delivers it and at a good prices too. From Alexander McQueen to Louis Vuttion, you are guaranteed to find your favorite brands.

Trinidad Carnival Re-Cap #1

What I Wore: Dress- Mossimo (Goodwill of North GA- Alpharetta)/Shoes- Moda (DSW)

So I am finally back from a much needed and well deserved vacation. My next few posts will give you a glimpse on the festivities that I indulged in during my time away from home. My intentions were to complete these posts while I was there, but let's just say I got caught
Anyway, here I am on the streets of San Fernando, which is the second biggest city in Trinidad. It is also my birthplace. I remember shopping the stores with my mommy when I was a little girl.

I ran across this very chic boutique that stood out like among the other stores on High Street. It's name, BANG BANG, and the clothing selection was very impressive.

On a funny note, my cousin and I unknowingly met the manager the day before at Haagen Dazs (she took a pic of my cousin and I which I used for this blog post HERE)..I tell you Trinidad is so small!! I also did a short video, about my shopping trip to BANG BANG, but the quality was too bad. So all I have to show is this picture....But trust me, their selection of clothing and accessories was simply amazing.

After a little shopping, we boarded the Water Taxi to Port of Spain so we could pick up our carnival costumes. The Water Taxi is a quick mode of transportation to the island's capital of Port of Spain. It's $15.00 TT ($2.50 US) each way.

These are my cousins Marvin and Anton. Don't they look thrilled to be hanging out with me..LOL

Isn't this a relaxing view? Just beautiful!! Sweet Sweet TNT!!

We made it safe and sound to our destination and then headed to the Yuma Vibe mas camp to pick up our costumes.

A few pics of downtown Port of Spain...

And finally, picking up our costumes...

Stay tuned to see how I rocked my costume...LOL
