Stylish Review: The 3rd Annual Derby Brunch Hatwalk

Monday, May 13, 2013

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the 3rd Annual Derby Brunch Hatwalk® at Villa Christina in Dunwoody. The Derby Brunch Hatwalk is an annual charity event that brings women of all walks of life together to celebrate sisterhood and service, and fellowship in high style by paying homage to the tradition of the Kentucky Derby. Ladies strut their fabulous hats on the Hatwalk and compete for special prizes. All proceeds from the Derby Brunch Hatwalk benefit T.R.I.P. (Travel. Rebuild. Inspire. Progress), a national non-for-profit organization that helps to rebuild and revitalize communities of color across the country. Check out the photos below from the event!

Thrifted Trends: Spring 2013 Bermuda Shorts and Shorts Suit

Thursday, May 9, 2013

Blazer- Gifted by Stacey Kay of Parlor City Vintage/ Shorts & Blouse- Goodwill North GA- John's Creek/ Shoes- Steve Madden
This spring say goodbye to booty shorts and hello to longer length bermuda shorts. Come to think about it, the last time I wore this blazer HERE, I paired it with some teenie weenie shorts. I won't be doing that anymore..LOL.. Don't get me wrong, I am still going to bare my legs this season, but not as much. I will leave that look for the tweens and teens. Don't forget the best place to score this trend is your local thrift store!

The great thing about Bermuda shorts is they are very forgiving and will work well for any body type. Plus it gives a more classic, effortless way for women of all ages to wear shorts. I paired mine with this structured nautical blazer and now I am rocking the short suit trend. This look may even work well for a business-casual dress code and then happy hour.

Will you wear the bermuda shorts or the shorts suit trend this season?

Thrifting Augusta: Goodwill of Middle Georgia and Central Savannah River Area

Friday, May 3, 2013

Whenever I travel (for business or pleasure), I always try my best to check out the thrift stores in the area. Last week while working in Augusta, I made my way to the Goodwill Augusta Retail Store at 3179 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30907. I was floored when I saw how modern and upscale this store was. There was a coffee shop too.

Customer service and management was top notch. The store was well organized and the clothing selection was top quality. I had a great time shopping and I scored a few pieces for my favorite clients too!  Check out my pictures below of my favorite finds.

Four Vintage Dresses.
Sequin Bolero Jacket.
Black Fur and Leather Jacket.
Black and White Tribal Print Pant Suit
What do you think of my Goodwill thifting haul? Which pieces are your favorite? Check out my online store HERE if you would like to purchase some fabuless vintage and thrifted pieces.
