***WARNING: Picture Heavy***

THRIFTY THURSDAYS: B & R Thrifted Fashion Show

Thursday, October 20, 2011

Here is your chance to shop with me and Virtuous Styls! This Saturday, October 22 from 12-3pm, we are hosting a Thrifted Fashion Showcase at B & R Thrift Store6650 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30238

The event includes a fashion show, extra discounts, some clothing as low as 99 cents and one lucky winner will win a gift certificate. RSVP today so you won't miss this fabuless opportunity to try thrifting with us!!

B & R Thrift is one of my favorite thrift stores. Every Thursday all women's clothing is an additional 50% off and every Friday a certain color tag is only 99 cents. What's not to love? Well, there is one thing that I have to get adjusted to and that is the way the clothing is organized.

Unlike most thrift stores, where clothing is organized by color, B & R organizes clothing based on size. Some thrifters prefer that method but I happen to prefer stores that organize based on color. But it doesn't stop me from thrifting at B & R!

They have a dressing room, accept credit cards, items can be exchanged within 7-days of purchase and be their Facebook friend to get coupons to save more money on your purchase. Make sure you print the coupon below to use on Saturday during our event.

So when you are thrifting, do you prefer stores that organize clothing by color or size?

Thrifty Thursdays: Must Have Fall Accessories

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Don’t judge me, but I have a love-hate relationship with fall. I hate the colder weather but I love fall fashion. Especially with all of the amazing trends this season. I can’t wait to get my hands on all the coveted must-have pieces on my list.

As you know, I am all about thrifting for trends, but if you are not into thrifting as yet, I suggest that the easiest way to update your wardrobe is with a few statement accessories. By simply adding accessories, you can definitely update your wardrobe for less.

Here are my 3 choices for Fall 2011:

Animal Print Shoes. This season you can find this print everywhere- Blouses, Bags, Skirts and more are covered with this iconic print. But if you had to choose one piece to get the most out of this trend, I would suggest a gorgeous pair of animal print shoes. It will add an unexpected element to any outfit.

The Infinity Scarf: My favorite winter accessory is the scarf. Of course it keeps me warm, but it keeps me looking fashionable at the same time. I always throw one on when I'm rushing out the door and can't decide on what else my outfit needs. But this season I am crazy about the infinity scarf. It's basically a knit circle scarf that can be worn many different ways and you don’t have to mess with the ends like a traditional scarf.

Textured Tights. I adore tights because I can still wear my favorite skirts and dresses and keep my legs warm. Tights, especially textured ones, are the most frugal way to update your fall wardrobe.

What accessories are you planning to update your wardrobe with for Fall 2011?

Granny Plaids

Monday, October 10, 2011

Top- Express (Value Village)/ Skirt- Vintage (B & R Thrift)/ Clutch- Vintage (Value Village)/ Shoes- No Name/ Accessories-Vintage

I scored this super cute pleated plaid skirt at B & R Thrift Store in Sandy Springs. It it now one of my favorite places to thrift on Thursday's because all women's clothing is 50% off. You can't beat that deal.

But even more exciting is the Thrifted Fashion Showcase that I am co-hosting along with thrifting partner Kerrie of Virtuous Styls. We will style models in thrifted fashion to showcase that thrifty can be stylish too. All of our guests will get a coupon worth 30% or 50% off their purchase. Plus we will be on hand to shop and style our VIP guests. I invite my Atlanta friends to come out to support!!

So what do you think of my plaid skirt. I admit that I am not a big fan of plaids, but it's a trend that I wanted to try. I fell in love with the color, length and the fit. Will you be wearing plaids this season? If so, would you buy this trend retail or resale?

THRIFTY THURSDAYS: Thrifted Fall 2011 Trends

Thursday, October 6, 2011

Thrift stores are a mega-house for the seasons hottest trends. I find it so hard to buy retail when I can find the same piece resale. Plus my mom is so quick to boast, "I used to wear _______ (insert any item) when I was your age".

In a previous post Secondhand Style , one of my thrifty tips encouraged thrifty to experiment with a new style or the season's hottest trends. The latest must-haves trends, were must-haves in the past and then end up in the thrift stores. Why not take advantage of this cycle and try thrifting for a few trendy pieces. It is an inexpensive investment to try out a certain look! Plus you are guaranteed to not have the same look as anyone else. Thrifted trends make a style statement!

My top trend to thrift for this season is the CAPE. It screams sophistication. It looks so warm and cozy. I recently experienced my first (and hopefully last) bout of thrifting envy, when I saw a fellow thrifter score an amazing hooded cape. Yes I am on a mission now!! I will find one soon.

Tahari Capelet

I also want a pair of COLORED PANTS. Red, pink or mustard yellow pants, either will be the perfect pop of color on a cold wintry morning. I already have a gorgeous red velvet maxi skirt, but my wardrobe is lonely without a pair of bright colored pants.

Lastly, I am searching for a pair of LEATHER SHORTSLeather is one of my fall staples! I need a pair of shorts to complete my leather wardrobe capsule. I plan to pair my leather shorts with a soft pussy bow blouse and textured tights. Shorts make a perfect alternative to the mini skirt.

What trends are you thrifting for or did you already score an amazing piece? Is there is certain "trendy" piece that you would only buy resale vs retail?
