Thrifted Trends: Tolani Ikat Print Maxi Dress

Shoes: Alice & Olivia (Goodwill Johns Creek; worn HERE)
Dress: Tolani (B & R Thrift Store Sandy Springs)

This was my first time wearing my Tolani maxi dress and I promise you it will not be last. First of all, the Ikat fabric print is amazing. According to the blog A Little Design Help, Ikat fabrics are made by dying the threads before the fabric is woven.  The threads (typically natural fibers such as cotton or linen) are tied tightly together and dipped into dye.  This creates an uneven, mottled appearance on the threads, allowing the pattern to have a “hazy” look when the fabric is woven. It is by by far one of the most comfortable maxi dresses that I own. The length of the dress is perfect too. I wore my 4 inch heel wedges and the dress hem was at least an inch of the floor. This dress will also make a great summer/fall transitional piece too. I can certainly add a black blazer and classic pumps to make it office chic.

How do you style your maxi dress with heels? Do you prefer wedges or classic pumps?

Whould you like to comment?

  1. The patterns and textures in your dress are so attractive. I usually wear flats with my maxis.

  3. I haven't managed to wear my maxis with heels or wedges with maxis. Always seems more comfortable in flats. BUT I think I may dress one up after this post.

  4. Love the maxi! I usually wear flat sandals with maxis. Yesterday I wore wedge heels with the one I wore to church to dress it up a little. As I get older I find I love the wedge heel more and more! :)
